Holiday..... first New York for 5/6 nights, followed by Orlando or Los Angeles.... but which???
For 15 year old daughter and her father who both likes cities, theme parks, beaches and shopping. We can't decide between Orlando or LA, they want to see some big sights and famous attractions, whilst having fun in a safe environment???? At moment, I'm warming towards LA as there seems more to do and see, a bit different from JUST theme park and beaches.
Any thoughts???
Also what's LA like temperature wise at end of October?

LA is a lot more comftorble temp and humidity wise. Also its a lot bigger of a city with more to do and a lot more culture. Might just be my bias of not enjoying the florida weather in general and also having a good time in LA

After NY, why not skip Orlando and LA.
Instead, may I suggest...
Renting a car and driving either north to the Boston, and Maine, or south toward Philadelphia and Washington.

To the north you can visit the beaches of Cape Cod and visit the historic city of Boston. Even further north you can visit some nice beaches in southern Maine, then drive along the coast to see the rocky and beautifully scenic shore. If you can make it all the way up to Bar Harbor, you MUST drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain. The view is lovely.

If you drive south from NY, you can visit the beautiful New Jersey shore. The beaches are actually very nice. In central New Jersey there is a very large amusement park called Six Flags/Great Adventure.

You can also visit historic Philadelphia. Near Philadelphia there is a great amusement park, Hershey Park. There is also the Pennsylvania Dutch country, which is getting more commercialized. But there is shopping there, as well as a nice look iunto the Amish way of life.

Farther south you can visit Washington, DC which has many so many attractions that are free of charge, you could spend days visiting and never pay an admission fee. South of Washington is Kings Island amusement park in Virginia, as well as other seaside resorts in Delaware and Virginia.

Other quick ideas...Montreal, Niagara Falls, Baltimore and a bit west Cedar Point Amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. At Cedar Point they have the world's largest collection of roller coasters.
This will give you a better idea of the US without the hassle of traveling to LA or Orlando.

You are setting yourselves up for a lot of flight time by choosing such locations.

I would settle on one city, and just enjoy it as much as possible. Don't try to do too much. That is a sure way to ruin a vacation.

The idea is to rest.

(Sigh). You'll see.
