Museum of Natural history is great. Don't eat there, the food is horrendous.

See The Statue of Liberty

The Empire State Building is a nice view at the top.

Take a day trip out to the Hamptons, hop on the
LIRR at Penn.

You also have to check out the village just for the interesting people that wander around and the interesting shops.

Take a walk through Central Park. I recommend the Circle Line boat tour that goes right round Manhattan. Go to St Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Avenue. The tour of the United Nations is really interesting. Visit the Cathedral of St John the Divine if you have time. And I thought it was well worth the effort of going up to Fort Tryon Park to "The Cloisters".

If you go to the Statue of Liberty don't waste your time/money queuing to go to the top - the view isn't much different from the base. You're better off going up the Empire State Building for a good view of the city (it's open until late). However, Ellis Island, on the way to/from the Statue, is fascinating.

I recommend you go to times square. Always lots to see there. Also there's a cafe called Serendipity (I think that's the correct spelling). They are supposed to be famous for their deserts. You'll want to get there early and put your name on the list. The wait can be up to 3 or 4 hours.

Also, top of the Empire State building.
