I'm moving (not far) from Long Beach to Glendale (or surrounding areas). I don't know too much about it out there. What areas are decent (and reasonalbly priced) and what areas should I avoid?

Ok, this may seem like a silly question, but we are planning a 3 or 4 day trip to visit NYC and will stay the weekend. Would it be better to extend our trip to arrive on a FRIDAY? Or stay over the next MONDAY. Is the city any busier on a Mon vs Fri? In your opinion is the city busier then?

I live in California and I have never been to NYC. A few friends and I are planning to go this year, so I'm really excited! I was thinking that it would be best to go there in the late spring/early summer. What do you think? It's kinda hard to do a lot of site-seeing, in the snow. And I don't wanna have to wear a huge jacket the whole time...I want some nice weather! Maybe just take a light jacket. But I don't wanna go in the heat either.

Tell me what you think!

Hi: I will be going to a conference in downtown LA on a Thursday night and plan to catch the last flight home out of LAX airport at 10.20pm. My conference is supposed to end at 8pm and the hotel is right across the street from 7th Street metro / subway station.

I am a single woman--what is the safest, quick, and reliable way to get to LAX for my flight? I will not need to check-in any baggage. Hiring a private limo is not an option for me; nor is renting a car. I have identified two options: (1) Red line metro to Union Station and then take Flyaway bus (trouble is that the bus only departs at 00 and 30 of the hour) or (2) Blue line metro to Green line with transfer at Imperial station (I have read something about rough neighborhoods at this station and the Blue line; don't know if it's still safe at night).

Lastly, how long does it take to walk from the Red line metro stop at Union to the Flyaway bustop? Thanks.
