I live in California and I have never been to NYC. A few friends and I are planning to go this year, so I'm really excited! I was thinking that it would be best to go there in the late spring/early summer. What do you think? It's kinda hard to do a lot of site-seeing, in the snow. And I don't wanna have to wear a huge jacket the whole time...I want some nice weather! Maybe just take a light jacket. But I don't wanna go in the heat either.

Tell me what you think!

Late spring is great, end of May. I also like to go end of the year because of all the Christmas decoration but it can get cold!
I wouldn't recomend summer, it's way to hot in the City. September is usually really nice as well. Have fun!

Being a native New Yorker I can tell you the best time to go, or rather when not to go. Summer is really too hot...remember that the heat bounces off the concrete and makes it much more uncomfortable. Christmas time is marvelous with the stores all decorated for the holiday. Spring and Autumn bring wonderful temps there and walking the city is easy. Have a wonderful time. There so much to see.

I live in NY, your instincts are pretty good although there hasn't been much snow here lately. May and June are good, July and August is too hot, but truthfully any time is good Manhattan is alot of fun year round!! I was also a Marine and travaled alot....there's no place like NYC!!

Springtime is great, but as the first answerer said, you may want to wait until May. April is still pretty cool at night, and every now and then we get a springtime Nor'easter up the coast. May/June is an excellent time! Have fun!!

June 1st. Perfect time. The Sun sets at 8pm, the flowers are out, and the annoying nighttime coolness is tempered.

About 75º/60º high and low
