Europe (Continental) - June 2007

I really hope I can pull this off but what I'm hoping to do is spend 2 weeks each in the bigger countries: England, France, Italy, Scotland, then one week each in Ireland (since I've been there), Greece, Netherlands, Switzerland.
Is this realistic?

Have you heard that my beautiful country is in fire? From Trimiklini dam up to Saitas - Pelendri - Moniatis - Amiantos forest fire is burning houses and our forests ! We have only a few choppers and firemen are fighting for every bush and tree to save ! Israel and Italy will send their airplanes tonight round 10pm to help, but what until then?
Limassol is covered by clouds of smoke, the wind is getting stronger at this hour - and I do not know how to help. We tried to go up there to help, but were stopped by police: they are evacuating people from the mountain, bringing children back from summer camping sites.

My sons and I leave Amsterdam Aug.8 and must be in Salzburg for a music festival that begins Aug. 15. We want to visit Greece and would like info. on travel time and where to stay and visit. The hostels in Athens all sound dirty and dangerous. My sons are 15 and 17. Also, when we leave Greece can we return by going North thru Italy? Are there ferries that cross from Greece into South Italy? Safe? Cost? Thank You, our weak dollar is making our travel very expensive!

i really doubt it
they want us to believe that the fires are caused because of the heat but the most of the fire are caused by arsonists and nobody has ever been punished
the politicians all show that they care but after a few months they dont even remember
the same thing is going to happen again

What is the best way to go from Istanbul to Ankara- bus,train,etc., and what are the costs of it? I have to go to Ankara and i have only found information about airport in Istanbul. I haven't been to Poland in 8 years and am having trouble remembering how they dress. I think I remember people wearing sleeveless dresses. Is this ok? I don't want to offend anyone or look too touristy.
Are there any major "donts" in clothing?
I want to wear a dress that was originally a halter top, but I converted it so the straps cross in the back and are then sewed down. Is this ok? I'm going to be going to places like Auschwitz and zakopane (yeah, I prolly spelled that wrong).
