We are planning a 10 days trip to Amsterdam - London - Scotland in mid October.
Any suggestions? Advices? Places to visit? Best and Most practical way of doing it? Activities? We are looking for something adventurous, exciting and out of the ordinary. No luxury or fancy trip... No 5 stars hotels and expensive restaurants...

None of the toilets have seats, so how do women sit down to go to the bathroom? And if either man or woman wanted to go poop, how would you do so? All of the toilets have the seat unhinged, so it just looks like a man left the seat up, but there is nothing to put back down.

Dear friends, I just wanted to let you know that this weather is not normal in Greece, it is an extreme heatwave, so make sure you take precautions, like not going up on the Acropolis at mid-day, not making the tour of the centre of Athens on foot today, etc. I am saying this, because tourists expect Greece to be warm, so sometimes they don't realize this is something out of the ordinary, they think, "well, this is what Greece is supposed to be like, Greeks live here all the time, so we can make it too". But Greeks have been very careful for the past week, the TV says to stay in an air-conditioned area, we don't go out if we don't have to. This is an extreme temporary phenomenon. Fortunately, it will be better tomorrow and during the week-end we'll be fine. Go to the sea if you can, but wear a hat and sun-cream.

My cousin is about to go to Amsterdam for a year. She's around 5'11", and in the U.S. that is very tall for a woman. I've been looking up random stuff about the Netherlands and Amsterdam, and I read something that said women and men in Holland are generally tall. Are there a lot of women there around the same height as my cousin? Just curious...

We like a good mix of history historical sites but not too many museums or churches. A couple key ones are good. Also, does anyone have suggestions on great local restaurants/hidden gems that aren't touristie? I love places with smaller plates where I can try a greater variety. Thanks!

My 12 year old daughter is going to Poland in a week to be with her grandparents (they are Americans, visiting Poland for 2 years, grandpa is Polish). Is there anything she needs to know or do while she is there? She knows her cell phone won't work, nor will she be able to plug anything electrical in.
