From Newcastle, take the ferry to IJmuiden.
Overnight, with a bus to Amsterdam.
Buy a multi-stop train-ticket or a train-pass and travel by train.
Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France (you can go to Paris, but it is also nice just to go to one of the towns near the Luxembourg and German borders,) Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Czech republic, Slovakia, and further through the former Communist countries.
Or skip the western half of Europe and fly to one of the eastern countries, and train from there. Cheaper but less easy to get around. (But getting better each year as more people get fluent in English.)

My daughter backpacked all round europe and stayed in Pensions had a whale of a time. But the advice is DO NOT GO TO MOROCCO by yourself.

well first off, buy yourself a travel guide, such as "let's go 2007" or "lonely planet 2007"
those guides are great, but if you're on a budget i think it might be better "let's go 2007". if you are into hostels, check this webstite www.hostelworld.com
it's very easy to deal with. and about tickets www.whichbudget.com can be very helpful
