Ive just got back from tenerife, when I called home I practically had to get a bank loan to do so! It was half the price to call from somewer twice as far! I could swear tenerife is far nearer than the other side of the atlantic! So why was it more expensive from Europe than it was from America?

Hi there, I'm going to be visiting Greece this summer, and from Athens I'd like to go to Santorini and then Lefkada. Is this a good way to get around, as they are the 3 main places I'd like to go, and how would you get to and from places? Thank you!!

On all the islands and around Athens the beaches all have the small pebbles on them. Do the larger islands like Rhodes, Crete, Santorini etc (excuse if spelled wrong) have the pebbles also? Where is the best beach near to Athens without using the ferry but a taxi or city bus?

just turned 23 and unfortunately for me i got a job within a month after graduating college, because I was broke and just thought I was ready for the 'real worl'. but now 6 months later, i really regret not taking my time traveling, etc bc now Im stuck in a job that only gives me 2 weeks off! So I am planning a trip to Europe in late August and(in an atempt to keep my job) go for a little under 3 weeks. But after all my convincing, none of my friends can go with me! they are either broke, or not in the place to go.I thought Europe would only be an incredible experience if I had a great friend to go with me and share those memories with... but am I wrong? Do u think I could go alone and still have an amazing time? The good news is that Im very independant, sociable and smart but I always like to be around people. Do u think its worth it, or should I just wait another year or so until one of my frends would be able to go? It would suck to see the eifel tower& not hav an1 2 share it w/..

Is this too spontaneous? We plan to take our luggage on the train and stay in hotels that we come across as we travel? Should we do this or is it too risky? HELP!

I am going to travel across europe for a little over two months. To go "backpacking" do you have to have an actual bag that you wear on your back, or does a suitcase and daybag suffice. OR do I realy need something that can fit everything on my back?
What are some GOOD backpacks that maybe you have used, or know of others using?

My girlfriend and I want to go on vacation to Europe, but she does not have a US passport or a passport of any of the EU countries. She holds a Belarus passport so she would normally need a visa. Does having a green card eliminate the need for a visa, as it would if you had a US passport?

I have two weeks free from work in August, and I'm interested in traveling somewhere...

Given that many businesses throughout Europe close during August, where would be a good place to travel...preferably somewhere that restaurants, etc. would be open.

My family and I are planning a European cruise for next summer. Im in my early 20's, so keep that in mind. I want to be able to party & have a good time, as well as enjoy as much of the cities that I can. Below are my two options.

1-Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy ; Naples, Italy ; Marmaris, Turkey ; Izmir ; Istanbul ; Athens ; Katakolon ; Livorno, Italy ; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy ; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

2-Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy ; Naples, Italy ; Dubrovnik, Croatia ; Venice, Italy ; Venice, Italy ; Messina, Sicily, Italy ; Barcelona, Spain ; Cannes, France ; Livorno, Italy ; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

If you've been to any of these places please let me know what you think. The main problem is that the first goes to Athens, which is nice but the second goes to Barcelona. Also this is a 12 night cruise. Any help would be appreciated.
