Depends on his visa, and how much money he takes with him.
Many countries ask for ticket out of the country before you are allowed to enter, in case you do not have a ticket, they quote an amount of money you need to have with you.
If he has neither he might get away with showing a credit card, but it is very likely that he will be suspected of illegal immigration, so he better contact the German Embassy before he leaves, if he is not sure about the rules.
(An old trick is to buy the cheapest ticket out of the country within the visa period, just to have a ticket.)

nope....they will question him at the airport and be deported if he doenst have a good reason for staying.
