I feel sorry for my Greek neighbours, and I share their sadness, and I support them.
As said Dellarovere, it's sad especially for the nature, animals and trees... And of course it's a bad news for houses too.
I hope the fires will be put out by the firebrigades as soon as possible.
Unfortunately these kind of fires occur more and more often now in the mediterranean countries. Last year it was also horrible for Portugal who lost thousands of hectares of forests because of the fires. It happens also very often in Spain,Turkey,France and Italy.
I wish good luck and strenght to Greeks in their work to extinguish the fires. I've just learned in the french TV that France and European Union are preparing to send water bomber planes in order to help Greece.
Fatih, a Turk who will never forget that Greeks send help to Turkey during the 1999 earthquake.

It is tragic! I can smell the forest burning although I am nowhere near it! I am thinking of all the animals and plants that die in agony, and the horror that we will se after the fire. And then we complain about floods and heatwaves! I am really sad, the forest of Parnes is one of the most beautiful forests, I've been there many times, I really can't get over it.
As for accidents or carelessness, I don't buy it. There is no way an accident can happen simultaneously on 4-5 spots surrounding a specific area, so that it can't escape. Plus, it never happens anywhere else. We have a small forest here in the city. Why does it never have even a small fire by accident? Just a tiny sparkle? I bet we can't light a fire here even if we try rubbing sticks, using glasses, blowing airr, etc. I bet we can't ignite it! I am sure this is the work of organised criminals, and it although I am against the death penalty, I wish we could burn them alive too!

I feel so sorry for all this life that is literally struggling to survive up there. The poor trees, the vegetation and the animals. If this fire is a result of an arson's attempt then the only thing that I can say is that this person's heart is made of stone. He deprives the life from those living beings that keep him alive.. so sad...

Indeed it is very saddening. In general terms, it is affecting everybody. Last year there was this terrible fire plague in the Peninsula of Kassandra, Halkidiki, which almost burnt my boyfriend's house. It was awful 'cause we couldn't do much. Except from thanking God neither he or his family where there, but safe and sound in the city.

Look like the world is burning those days...
California, Quebec (Canada) and now in Greece... Well they should have warned us that we were not only dealing with a global warming but also with a global heating... This world`s getting sick for real!!
Our Canadian CL-215 should help your country to extinct those fires, or you are using french helicopters?

Its so sad! I live in the southern suburbs of Athens and I can see the fire fog even from here , spreading in the sky! Fire brigade officials said many of the fires had been triggered by explosions of electricity pylons due to the heat but in some cases they were investigating arson attacks. If its true I hope they catch those bastards and put them in jail ,life sentence with no chance of parole!

Whenever there's a forest fire I think of the animals and the trees that get burnt, and I get angry with all the idiots who talk about the houses and private properties which should be a priority for firemen to protect...
P.S. Thank you indeed for your care and support dear neighbours and friends...

Someone mentioned arson attacks? Omgsh, what souls do those evil basta.rds have? Obviously they don't have one.
It saddens me greatly to hear our fellow friends in Greece are experiencing these horrendous forest fires. All of my thoughts and prayers are with the families and people there.
