My wife went with her ex (before she met me obviously).
Thought that it was the worst holiday ever - would never go back there.

Kos is great, it has something for everyone. If you just want clubbing and partying fo to Kardamena or kos town. There are quieter resorts like Kefalos and Psalidi and Tingaki is a great family resort. The beaches are beautiful and there are loads of historic sights to see. You will be spoilt for choice with restaurants. You can visit many other islands including Rhodes and Nissyros, the volcanic island. You can also visit Bodrum in Turkey for the day, it's only half an hour away!

It is a small island, but it has a big heart

Due to its size, Kos is an ideal destination for those who make their first steps into Greece with only one week to spend. Hotel accommodation is excellent and prices where reasonable in 2000.
The city of Kos is very pleasant, with a busy port and the castle worth while a visit. You do not need to rent a car to visit the island; the ideal is to rent a scooter or even a mountain-bike if you have strong legs to climb the mountain. I can only support the comments above about Kalymnos, the mountain and sadly enough about Kardameni to.
Enjoy your holiday

Yes Kos was our first Greek Island and we loved it. Kos town is well worth a visit. Listen I am a Greek lover and hope to move there when we retire, to Crete actually, but Kos was the first island that gave me the taste. You will love it!

My first holiday abroad was as an adult about 5 years ago. I took my two kids to Kos and had a great all inclusive holiday for a week. I still remember it well and find myself reminiscing about it when I have a quiet moment. I would love to go back there one day.

yes, and yes. But avoid Kardameni unless you like lager louts, english breakfasts, bingo and karioki! Take a trip to Kalymnos, the next door island, world famous climbing on offer, go to Pserimos, beautiful and totally unspoilt. Enjoy, friendly people, beautiful place, great climate!

I haven't been myself but my mom and dad went a couple of years back and said it was the best holiday they ever had! They relaxed on a beach listening to music by a bar (one in a hut).

I loved it. Stayed in Kardemena and it wasn't full of drunken brits at all.
See what this lot thought of the place

Great beaches, interesting archaeological sites, good food, I didn't like the nightlife too much, but I didn't have to join it! (I didn't go to Kardamena).
