good thing that happened in canada. can you imagine if a canadian got tasered in china or something? whoo, another splash of racism, many chinese-canadians will surely get beaten up around the country. but since a polish (white guy) got tasered in canada, it's just another regular story.

Choose the two of the four that are the most influential (by influential, I mean in terms of the governance of Canada).

NDP
Liberal
Bloc Quebecois
Conservative

I've been offered to take part in an exchange program in Canada, more specifically in Quebec, I still don't know if I'll be sent to Quebec city or Montreal, those are the options.
Transportation there and housing are provided but I have to afford living there. What I'd like to know is how much money I would have to take with me in order to live decently. I would be staying there for a month. By the way, what is the equivalent for an American dollar there? I know you use Canadian dollars but I don't know how much they're worth in relation to an American dollar.
And last but not least, I'm going in February and my friends say it's extremely cold and that one can't be out in the streets much. Is it true? Any recommendations you may give me are welcome: tips, places to visit, things to avoid, anything.
Oh, I don't speak French will that really be a problem? I'm supposed to teach English to young Francophone children as part of the program, I will be aided though.
Thanks!!!!

I do not care about flying, driving or returning to the US. Just WALKING across from US to CANADA. Very Simple. What is NEEDED, not what's recommended, just what's NEEDED. None of the other answers to similar questions are clear.

Is a driver's license and green card enough? Is a Canadian visa needed or a passport?

I am a US citizen, and I know I only need to bring my birth certificate and driver’s license, but my husband is a resident. He doesn't want to renew his passport for his home country (Tanzania), because he will be applying for citizenship next January, and he will then get a US passport.

I know after the beginning of the year a passport will be required for both of us.

My husband is in Buffalo, NY on a business trip, so he and his co-workers are going to park at the Falls and walk across the border into Canada. My father (who's Canadian) wants him to stop at the pharmacy and bring back a few bottles of 222's. My grandparents used to bring them on trips, but it has been many years and I'm sure regulations have changed. Would my husband be allowed to walk back across with the medication?

I plan to stay in the Budget Inn Patricia Hotel towards the end of December for my Christmas break in Vancouver the address of this Hotel Inn is "403 East Hastings St., Vancouver BC, V6A "
Is anyone here familiar with this location or perhaps you have stayed there or lived near by, Can you advise me if this part of East Hastings is one of the more slum parts of town. I have heard that East Hastings is an area to be avoided as there is a lot of drugs and prostitution. But i understand that some parts of East Hastings are worse than others, Can someone tell me what this part of town is like before i book my stay, should i avoid it at all costs or is this part of East Hastings OK, I will be traveling back to this Hotel at night after day trips out so i need a heads up on this, Many thanks.
