I would like to drive my 4wd VW camper from my home in San Francisco Ca. to England. Driving to the East of Canada is not a problem nor is getting a car ferry from Iceland to Scotland. What I can not find out is how to get me and the van from the East of Canada to Iceland. If there is anyone who can help me with this problem that would be great. Thanks, Shaun.S

I know that, if a Canadian citizen/resident stays in USA for more than 7 days, then when he returns to Canada by car, he qualifies for a personal duty & tax exemption of $750 CAD. My question is that, does that amount include tax charged in USA?? I mean, suppose I buy something at around $710, but after the USA state tax, the total is $760. Is that eligible for the exemption?

Also, if I had to pay tax, would that tax on the total amount ($760) or the excess amount ($760 - $750 = $10)?

Thank you.

Hello, I'm planning on moving to Toronto in the summer to visit. I plan on renting an apartment for 3 months and simply enjoying the Canadian lifestyle. I understand that it will cost a lot of money in order for me to do this, so I really wanted to get a job there. I'm 18 years old and am a U.S. citizen. How would I go about getting a job in Canada? It's really essential for me to make money while I'm there so any guidence is very much appreciated. Can I simply walk into a small business, like a Starbucks or McDonald's and ask for a job, or is that not permitted? Please, any advice will help.
Thank you,
Jesse

Hello, I am planning a trip to Vancouver BC. with my girlfriend and am looking for some small activities we could do. We are planning this 4 day 3 night trip around going to the aquarium, the capilano suspension bridge, the Dr. Sun Yat-sen (garden), and Grouse Mountain. We now are looking to make a list of smaller things we can do inbetween these bigger items. We really want to go curling but have no clue where we could do that at. Please tell me of some other things we can spend our time doing. No sporting events please, we have already planned to attend the Canucks game.

So again we are looking for some smaller stuff we can do, go curling, visit parks, go up the vancouver lookout, checkout the coastline, things of that nature. Thanks!

How come in canada they call their money the dollar? Copying the US?
Countries have so many names. Pound, franc, euro, yen.....
Why did they choose to copy the US dollar?
They were closer to the UK. They could have copied the pound?

Well, I am moving to Vancouver soon and am considering living in the downtown eastside. I know that there is alot of junkies and prostitutes there but that doesn't bother me. I know its alot cheaper to live there compared to other places in Vancouver so I'm wondering exactly how dangerous is it? I have heard mixed opinions, some people say as long as you mind your own business you will be fine, and other people tell me to avoid that area at all costs. Whats the real deal with the downtown eastside area?

In 3 weeks I am going to Canada for a month. Staying with friends over Christmas.

I want to take $1000 with me (do you think this is enough?) which in today's money is £516.

When is the best time to buy? Is this a good rate or could it get better over the coming 2 weeks?
