It's a little difficult to tell without knowing what the text of the letter was, but here are several things you can do:
1) Call the Canadian Hotel Omni and ask them if they send out letters like that.
2) Check to see if the address given to you is the same as the hotel.
3) Gut instinct. Whenever anyone sends you something asking for money, be VERY cautious and look at it with a skeptical eye. When it is unsolicited, more often than not it is a fraud. "Who's Who in High School Students" and other similar things that ask you to send in large amount of money for a book or something similar probably is not legit.
My guess is that this thing you received in the mail is not legit.

Please tell everyone who gets the Omni Hotel or Plaza Hotel spam emails the following:
1) No hotel will send a mass spam email to people advertising for jobs that are available. They will use a standard jobs service or advertise on their website through the "Careers" link. Example:
http://www.omnihotels.com/AboutOmniHotels/Employment/CareerOpportunities.aspx
2) No respectable hotel chain will charge you any fees to try and process your employment papers or any immigration or visa fees. They will either pay them for you, or they will tell you that you must make these arrangements yourself.
3) The only emails you should ever get from a hotel is if you stayed at one as their guest, and they send you a survey regarding your stay, a guest rewards program offer, or deals regarding future stays.
4) If the email you received is unsolicited, it is spam...pure and simple.
5) G.C. made a good point, which I added here: No hotel will use an email address from yahoo, gmail, or other public email service. They will ALWAYS have their own corporate address such as recruiting@omnihotels.com
Report that fraudulent email to your local fraud department of the FBI, RCMP, or toss it out and think nothing more of it. Never, ever, give them any personal details, or respond directly to them. Not unless you really have money to give away, are prepared for identity theft, or want to be on every spammer's mailing list.

I checked it out and you were not the only person to receive such email. Simple things to remember: - You cannot win a lottery if you didn't buy a ticket - You cannot win a lottery you have not entered - There is no such things as an "international lottery" - Most countries do not allow their citizens to participate in lotteries of other countries. - Most lotteries prohibit non-residents from playing - There is no such things as an "email lottery" - A lottery or sweepstakes that asks you for money in order to receive your prize would be breaking the law - "El Gordo" is drawn only ONCE a year. You have to buy a ticket in Spain in order to participate - No legitimate lottery would ask for advance fees before "releasing" the winning prize. - Lotteries do not contact the winners. The winner that has to contact the lottery. Some lottery scams will send you a fake check/cheque to be used to pay the fees.

If you didn't stay at that hotel or make reservations for a future stay, it's fake. Bills are still sent by regular mail, not email, unless you have an existing account with that business. And they don't use disposable email addresses such as yahoo, gmail or hotmail.

Did you select the hotel? Anyway, no hotel would ask you for money to process documents.
