ok I keep getting answers about deserters for some reason...I didn't ask about people volunteering for the military and then deserting, i'm asking whether or not you would protest/leave if there was another draft.

It's not as easy as it use to be. There is a case of some US soldiers that ran to Canada and I believe got extradited. They applied for refugee status on humanity grounds and lost/are loosing. BUT, they ain't dead, have a leg blown off, or being shot at.
I also think they claim to have been tricked into signing up in peace time, like shown in Fahrenheit 911.
