It's too bad that you have to take a sad incident like this (that has NOT been resolved yet, by the way...the Dziekanski incident is still being investigated), and tried to turn it into a race issue. I did not see any racism here, with two white, an asian, and a black cop confronted with a guy behaving erratically and non-communicative.
The man was distraught because he could not find his mother, who was supposed to meet him at the luggage area. He was there six hours and not able to properly communicate why he was upset due to (I suspect) a language barrier.
The security teams in many airports around the world are a bit trigger happy at the moment due to the terrorism concerns, and many are relying on what they have been told is a "non-lethal" tool for bringing suspects under control. As we have seen recently with the Vancouver Airport incident, it is not necessarily non-lethal and has resulted in deaths in other cases as well (see below).
The key difference in this case was that the police actions were caught on tape. Their actions appeared to be a little overzealous since they were in protective vests, and had him outnumbered 4:1.
However, remember that he was holding up some sort of chair or folding table moments before, and appeared to be threatening violence. We don't know exactly what was said, if the police saw his actions before they appeared on camera, and what actions Dziekanski made behind that wall that may have made the police decide to use the taser.
That does not condone the action. Just saying that all the facts need to still come out, and a judge should decide whether the actions were justified instead of trying these officers in the court of public opinion.

I think you got it a bit wrong. The Polish incident is getting HUGE coverage. It is when the RCMP pepper sprayed aboriginal babies in a traffic violation situation, got little coverage at all. Because it was only aboriginals or because there was not as juicy a video???
As for Canadians dying in foreign countries, several have been murdered in Mexico and haven't been as big as this story. There is Mexican police/government cover ups in those cases trying to hide the problem instead of solve it.
But, not to stray from the question here in Canada, the RCMP have way too much power, which includes a license to kill. Things need to change.

It was a very sad thing that happened, but it is getting world coverage and we are a multi-cultural country so it has nothing to do with the man being polish just that there was a language barrier.

I don't know where you're from, but this story is going crazy around the world. This is not just another story. Turn on your TV and look at the news reports coming in from Australia, Britain, even South Africa.
Ever since the video aired on youtube it's had a million hits
