To me, although Im not from Hong Kong, but I know HKSAR passport holders are granted visa free in 135 countries/territories. This number is higher than BNO and since China is uprising now, it may be a wise choice to hold a HKSAR passport

Looking for best airlines for direct flight from LAX to Beijing. Heard smoking allowed on Air china in either cabin or by pilots in cockpit. Any recommendations for GOOD airlines for that flight, even if just one stop...? How is Air Canada? Looking especially for best legroom and in seat entertainment to pass the time.

Context: Man A is telling Man B about Chinese taboos:

[A]: Yin1 wei4 song4 zhong1 gen1 zhong1guo2 zi4 "song4zhong1" tong2yin1. Dui4 ta1 lai2 shuo1, ni3 song4 ta1 zhong1 jiu4 hao3xiang4 yao4 ta1 zao3 yi2dian3 si3 yi2yang4.
English translation from text book = "Because the pronunciation of "givng a clock" is the same as "making arrangements for the burial of one' parents" in Mandarin. For her, getting a clock means the same as hoping she will pass away soon."

Reply from man B:

[B]: Wo3 de tian1! Wo3 gen1ben3 mei2 xiang3 dao4 zhe4 yi2dian3.

English translation = "Oh my God, I had no idea!"

Help with this question, please:

"yi2dian3" is used in both sentences A & B. Based on context and English translation, what is the defenition of "yi2dian3" in A& B?

I treid using online dictionaries, but one gave me false translation, while the other gave me no translation at all.

ALSO, Does the word Zi4 in [A] mean "character"?

Mandarin speakers, thank you for your help.

I know I could scour the internet wndlessly and have lots of places to visit. But I am only staying for a week before moving on. It would be great to get some feedback from people who have been / live there on places I have to visit. ie, Restaurants, Tourist attractions, Bars and nightclubs or general things to do. Thanks in advance, Chris.

I live in Japan and it is my favorite country. I love the US, but I'd rather live in Japan.

My fantasy is to try China. I would like to live there for one or two years (actually, maybe forever, but it all depends on the opportunity!) and not just in one place. I'd like to see and experience as much as possible.

So, do you think a person who really enjoyed Japan as much as I did might come to like China as much?

Well, it seems that the main problem is from Mattel , and not China. I am wonder if that's the reason why some of the users who blame the China products, mainly Rm TML or whatever his name is and others are hiding!?

Are there a lot of Chinese people who buy ipods? What kinds of ipods are popular there? I'm talking about the real ipods, not the fakes.

Let's say you are walking on the streets of Beijing, how would you know if a native Chinese is rich? I was thinking if they are wearing branded clothes but knowing that there are a lot of fakes in China, that would mean nothing. So how would you know?
