I have a huge fascination for Asia and especially for China. I went there for 3 weeks and it was the greatest place I ever visited. I am fluent in English, French and Mandarin Chinese but still have time to learn Cantonese. I am 17 years old, still in high school, live with my father and I plan to study international business and management in University and probably get an MBA. My father have been living all over Europe and he doesn't really like Asia so I think it would be really hard to convince him to help me.

What can/should I do right now in order to prepare for my dream? I want to have my own business somewhere around southern China. I know it's far away from the present but still, this is my wish (or part of it). My father would gladly help me if I wanted to move somewhere in Europe or even in USA but I think he would be scared by the idea of me moving to Asia, it would probably be very hard to get support from him ashe have a very "Western" mindset.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I have a short question. I just want to know if CCNA and CCNP are popular in HK. By that I mean, how easy is it to get a job if you hold a CCNA or CCNP? Does HK offer cisco courses in Chinese or is it in English? Thanks.

I stayed at this fairly wack hotel in HK that was packed with Nigerians and South Africans, and lots of Pakistanis trying to sell fake rolexes. Anyway I have no idea where this place was, but I'm looking for a cheap *** place to stay so that places sounds good. If someone can also tell me how to get there from the airport that would be wicked.

For a year-long stay, are you required to have a medical exam done and submitted to the embassy? Or can you fill out a form yourself?

I am talking about in Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities. I know they are cosmopolitan cities but this is China we are talking about. Can people hug at the airport without being branded as offensive? Can girls wear shorts or mini-skirts without getting dirty looks? What are the things that a foreigner would do to get evil stares from the locals? Are there no-nos?

Well I got my Tetanus and Hep A Gamma Globulin....but I have been told by the Travel Clinic and my doctor that Typhoid is endemic to China and I should take the Vaccine.....but I have also been told by many that they have gone without this and been fine. Granted an upset stomach and diarrea, etc. is expected (even when following best practices) but I'm not sure about the Typhoid because I always associate this with Rural areas. I don't mind spending the money if I really need it but if I'm taking it when the chances are next to nothing well that's just seems extreme and unecessarily expensive.

I will be staying with my Chinese Girlfriend's family in a humble, urban environment for my stay in Wuhan and with her friends in Beijing and Shanghai.

Does anyone have an opinion or experience with this?

I miss Hong Kong. I am sick of boring Canada and would like to go back to my hometown. Last year when I went back, I felt like home. No more English, snow, taxes, etc............Why would people migrate to Canada!?! Doesn't make any sense to me.
