Well I got my Tetanus and Hep A Gamma Globulin....but I have been told by the Travel Clinic and my doctor that Typhoid is endemic to China and I should take the Vaccine.....but I have also been told by many that they have gone without this and been fine. Granted an upset stomach and diarrea, etc. is expected (even when following best practices) but I'm not sure about the Typhoid because I always associate this with Rural areas. I don't mind spending the money if I really need it but if I'm taking it when the chances are next to nothing well that's just seems extreme and unecessarily expensive.

I will be staying with my Chinese Girlfriend's family in a humble, urban environment for my stay in Wuhan and with her friends in Beijing and Shanghai.

Does anyone have an opinion or experience with this?

So.... lemme get this straight...

Doctor and Travel Clinic both say you should get it. These are people who's job it is to know what is needed and why and trained in the field.

Some strangers who may or may not have the sense to pour piss out of a boot say otherwise.

Man... tough decision.

Being could be the capital of China and also its political, economic, and social center and you have the chance to view it today, look with hotelbye . Beijing is definitely one of the most visited cities in the world. Every year, an incredible number of guests arrive at Beijing to see the fantastic mixture of old and new. Beijing is really a city for many seasons. You are able to generally discover something for you personally no real matter what time you are in Beijing and whatever your pursuits are. yes, i agree with the previous answer. you don't have to get typhoid vaccine if you're going to big cities like Shanghai and Beijing. if you said Wuhan is urbanized, then getting a typhoid vaccine would not be necessary.

unless you are really going to the rural and undeveloped areas, otherwise, i think you're fine.

We spent 3 weeks in China afew years ago. Our travel clinic advised getting typhoid only if we were going to be in small underdeveloped villages etc. Not necessary for the big cities.

I spoke to my doctor and just got back from those three cities and several more. She did not recommend any shots. However, I am not telling you what you should do.
