My mom, brother, dad, and I are going to china this summer and I was just wondering if any body could give me some cool places to visit. We'll be traveling to bejiing, shanghai, Hong Kong, and then sailing up the Yangtze river to the city of Xian. If somebody could give me some really intresting places to visit or things to do, I would be eternally grateful.

I'm looking for tips on enjoying the nightlife in Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok, and Tokyo (where to go, what to do). I'm in my mid 20s and am looking for a scene that generally attracts people my age. I'm also hoping to find places where I'll have an opportunity to flirt with the females (local or foreign). ;-) ...and no, I'm not looking for prostitutes. I'm just looking for fun places with good music and good drinks.

I'll be spending a week in each city. I already have a good idea of what sites I want to see in each city during the day, but I'm looking for recommendations for nightlife.

If you've been to any or all of these cities, do you have any advice?

I have to decide my flights. With the rates I've gotten I can either fly to hong kong and stay for a couple days... and then only get 14 days exactly in vietnam but save a hundred dollars. Or I can fly straight to Vietnam, it'll cost a hundred dollars more and I wont get to go to HK unless I go by bus/train and cross the boarder just to see HK and then go back to vietnam with more like 3 some weeks to travel around vietnam.

With only 2 weeks exactly (going from HK), or with about 3 some weeks (going directly to Saigon) either way, I have to fly in and out of Saigon, which means I have to make it up to Hanoi and back within that time. What would you do? Vietnam is my priority, how worth it do you think it is to include Hong Kong?
Please help :)

my wife and I are planning on living in China for a year, but we can't decide between Beijing or Shanghai. Is one more assessable for Americans? We live near nyc so we want to be in a more urban environment. Any general tips about living in China would be much appreciated too. Thanks.
