Theathers seat their audiences by the seat numbers. Buy the tickets early to get the best seat in the house.

Restaurants serves their patrons on the first come basis unless you have reservations that clearly specify where you want to sit. It depends on how many people are dining as well.

The general rule is: reserve the seat as early as possible. Tipping to get the seat may not work in certain situation.
