I went to Macau last summer and it really is great. I took the ferry from Hong Kong in the morning, around 9 and got there around 10. We went home around 6 (earlier, b/c there was a typhoon warning). I wouldn't say you need to spend more than 1-1.5 days there. Remember a Chinese visa!! You are able to use the Hong Kong currency, or you can exchange on the island.

1. As mentioned above, the cathedral, the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral. Da San Ba. It's pretty neat. To the left of the ruins is a small temple, Na-Tcha Temple. If you are interested in these things, it is also quite interesting. On the way to the ruins of the cathedral, one must pass the city streets. They are filled with street vendors and small shops. Browse the stores on the way up, then buy on your way down, so you won't be carrying so much when browing the cathedral. I would advise buying the beef jerky, postcards, their almond cakes are also quite good.

2. The top of the mountain. It is by St. Paul's Cathedral and there is a museum (I'm sorry, I forget what the subject is) on the top. I forget how much admission is, but it's reasonable. There is also a great view of the island, and you can see Zhu Hai in China.

3. The A-Ma Temple is the most well-known temple in Macau. It's on the southern side of Macau, so you'll need to take a bus or cab. I would advise a bus, it's leisurely and you get to see more of Macau.

4. There is also a famous golden statue of a Lotus in Macau, it's a nice photo taking opp.

5. City center is a nice place to visit.

Gambling is optional, but you might want to try you hand for a bit.

Have fun on your trip!!

Macau is a very small place, consist of a small peninsular next to Zhu Hai, and 2 other island.

It is so small, in the main Peninsular alone, you can cover it within a day.

1. Try the old Catholic Church, one of the oldest in East Asia, and some of the old building along the streets.

2. To view the entire Macau, perhaps 2 days will be enough. But to enjoy some game of gambling, may be more.

3. Most of the cantonese dishes are great. The Tim Sum, beef stew, etc.

4. Some dry meat. This region produce one of the best dry meat. The chinese sausage.

5. Try crossing to China, just few minute away. It is fun, and more lively. Macau economy id slipping downwards.

Infact, most of the population now depend on binging custom unpaid goods across to china for a fee of $10 Macau money. It is not very bright there beside the Casino.

Enjoy your trip. I am bringing my children to Hong Kong Disney Land, and will be passing thru Macau next week.
