oh, man, acrroding the distance of my place, you should go.like from south to north, anyway, the last stop must be Beijing or shang hai, cuz, you need a ride back to where you r coming , so, if shang hai is your landing city, then go Guang zhou, xian an Dian lian tian jin then Beijing.
if Beijing is you landing place then go like tian jin - Da lian- xian- shanghai guang zhou- beijing,
about beijing: ---Tian an men squre---forbien city- great wall-wang fu jing -food like beijing duck.
about shang hai--- pudu-- puxi-- nanjing lu-- zhou zhuang
About Da liian---- just walk down street. pretty much like europen small city: beautiful and clean.
About tian jin : a dark city, no much too see, but food: Ma hua,
zha gao; gou bu li bao zi and gui shun zhai.
Guang zhou, pretty much like ppl in china twon, speak cantonese, and i am coming from Beijing, don't know about it

As an ancient City, Xi’an, once named Chang’an, a very poetic name in Chinese, is known as the city of "Everlasting Peace”. Known as "the Cradle of Chinese Nationality", Xi’an is not only the birthplace of Chinese Nationality, but also the important human birthplace and one of the prehistoric culture centers in Asia. The abundant relics, sites and the starting point of The Silk Road help Xi’an won the laudatory title of 'Natural History Museum’. For example, The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses is praised as the eighth wonder of the world, Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang is listed on the World Heritage List, and the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) is the largest and most intact Ming Dynasty castle in the world. You can see the Wild Goose Pagoda and the Famen Temple near Xi'an. I booked a package tour on http://lvpad.com/tourpackage/ and had a good time in Xi'an. The tour Xi'an, Beijing and Shanghai only cost $ 430.

Don't come to Shanghai or China in general. This country is full of scam artists and retarded motorists who have no repsect for pedestrians. Even if you get hit by a car while crossing the road on a green light, the law will defend the driver because YOU ARE A FOREIGNER!! and they are locals. (95% of crimes against foreigners are unreported)
I know because it happened to me in the city that I live in SHANGHAI.
The Chinese people are also very racist and very rude in public.
It's very sad because I'm a Chinese American expat who was very pro-China when I moved here last year. I even wrote extensive economic research papers defending and promoting both the government and the people. Now, my feelings are "GET ME OUT OF THIS COUNTRY!!"
It's really sad how with in one year my opinion has changed so much about this contry I once loved.

My experience is very similar to RM's although I am not Chinese American. I was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing with a green light then the driver and friends assaulted me. The Police refused to do anything. Is it too late to cancel your trip??

In Dalian you must see Xinghai Sqare. If you are into shopping Victory Plaza is a must see and if you are craving Western comforts try going to Olympic Square.
In Beijing see the pearl and silk markets not to mention the Great Wall, Forbidded City, and Summer Palace.
