I am just beginning Mandarin and I am wondering what are the best books to get? I have some good online stuff but a book is better for me because I am not always near a computer.

I would use CD's, rather I am using them. You need to hear it spoken. The tones make this especially true. Trust me on this.

If you want to find out Mandarin but you have no clue exactly where to begin then a course for Mandarin is the greatest online course for the newbies since it really commences with the basis.

I would take the audio book version of rosetta stone. I've learned so muc with that program.
