How would you know if a native Chinese is rich?

Let's say you are walking on the streets of Beijing, how would you know if a native Chinese is rich? I was thinking if they are wearing branded clothes but knowing that there are a lot of fakes in China, that would mean nothing. So how would you know?

Very hard to tell. One thing is for sure, you can't tell by their manor-ism.

All Chinese people lack manors. It doesn't matter if their rich or poor. In fact most of the people that like to cut in line at the airports are well dressed and business men.

I just happen to live in China and I can tell you first-hand that it would be very difficult to tell the difference between monitary "class". Most people dress the same way and if you drive a car, it's not unheard of. Kids all dress like their favorite basketball star and have no problen affording it because everything is so extremely cheap and most or all of it knock-offs.

People that are noticably rich, you'd rarely see "walking the streets". They have a social status to uphold and image/prestige is everything here.

On one occasion I did happen to see a woman in a supermarket with two kids and three nannys while holding two different cell phone conversations and messing with her palm-pilot. Don't ask me why so many nannys, but that woman, or at least her husband, had money. Mind you, she was caucasian.

Most of the rich dress plain and simple when they are in public, so that they can blend in and not be exposed. Most rich Chinese people do not flash their wealth and most worked hard to get to that level. The money spent on the education of a child can reveal the parents' true wealth. There are probably more millionaires, not billionaires, here in China than the USA!

well., in fact, in the street , the rate of you get chance to see the rich people is like zero. why, cuz rich people in China, have their own lifestyles and living circles in china, they use to live thier own fancy house, having thier own drivers, these rich classes, got a lot chance to live overseas, but they are not ppl in yours china town...lol....
they invest the most expensive hotels, fancy resturants, and hanging out thier own rich friends in golf course.
for sure they are all VIPs.
even most of americans can't reach those chinese high classes. .... you can see any kind of people in china, but you never get chance to see them on the streets. thank you.

I really don't know about Chinese but i see what branded clothes they are wearing as u said and i specially see there foot wear and how they are walking.walking will gives u 50% of people status

1 people have cars,expecially luxurious car
2 people's dressing: their cloth always looks clean and new.some people wear brand cloth but you can see some of their clothes have been wear for a long time.
3 their hair: poeple who is rich their hair style is fashion because they go to expensive place to make their hair.and their bye hair look good quality dye,or material to make their hair marcel.
4 those who's body is always straight is rich people.and those crookback is poor.
5 people eatting at expensive resturants.
etc.

You can't really tell ,I am afraid.Some rich people have low profile and they are confident enough not to worry about what others think of them.While the not -rich ones are wearing the branded trying to mislead others to think they are rich.So...you really can't tell.

Also look for jewelry that appears to be real.

Believe me, it is hard to tell. I know some very very rich chinese people, they dress very average to avoid any intentional problems with other people due to their vast wealth.
