Birthday vacation?

My 23rd birthday is in October and my boyfriend wants to take me somewhere...I just can't think of anywhere I want to go. We are kind of on a budget but want to go somewhere nice and somewhere we will have fun. We live in Southern California near the city of Burbank but are willing to travel as far as need be as long as the trip there doesn't cost too much. I'm not really positive what our limit of spending is but roughly I will say try not to go over $800 but even less than that would be great...Christmas is just around the corner and we both have big families. I am 20 years old, and I want to travel around the world and experience the different cultures and learn new languages. However, I don't have much money, and I want to leave this spring. Anyone here live in a Mobile Home park in California?

Air travel tips/suggestions (concerning packing)?
