Dubrovnik, Croatia.
I've visited many countries and by far, this place is one of the best.
The people are beautiful. The food is unique not to mention fantastic (Balkan dining)! The history is rich (did you know that the stone that built the White House came from one of Croatia's islands? Or that the bow tie originated there and NOT in Paris?) The scenery is beautiful (this town in located on the side of a cliff off the shore of the Adriatic Sea).
This place has the best beaches..and was recognized in the 'Top 10 Beaches' section of Forbes Magazine a year or so back.
This place isn't "uber-famous" yet, but in a few years it will be!! Check it out online.

There are a few. I love the comfort of my room. I love NYC. And there is a room in the Met in the Egyptian Wing. It is the Temple Room. It is very serene. The first time I went as a kid, I fell in love with it. I love Sydney. There is a little beach on the north side of the Harbour that is a tiny speck of sand that has the most beautiful rocks and has a killer view of the skyline. Again, very peaceful. If I lived there, I can see that I might spend a lot of time there.

I wonder what you mean with your question. the best place in the world? it depends on which field. for job opportunities and a better way of life is the USA. countries in Western Europe might be awesome, but there's no opportunities for job there and they lag behind the USA in job opportunities.

I'm torn between 2 places I've been to: Mesa, AZ or Glenwood Springs, CO. I have always wanted to go to Venice, Italy, though. The canals fascinate me.

Czech Republic/Barbados: I'm tied between these two. Czech has a lot to offer while Barbados is paradise, again has a lot to offer, too.
