In Japan almost every piece of plastic is recyclable, which is certainly not the case in the United States. Milk cartons and other objects that are not recyclable in the United States are recyclable in the Japan. In Japan there are many recyclable only 'trash' cans through all major cities--even at stores like 7-11, which in the United States most all 7-11s do not have recyclable only 'trash cans'. Even in JR trains there are some advertisements saying to recycle. I read that Japan recycles more glass than any other country. Why is this? Are there pro-recycle laws or do corporation and people just care more about the environment?

Thanks to all for your advice. I'm asking because I hear it is pretty cold over there lately.

I'm considering moving to the D.C. area, or the Virginia or Maryland suburbs as well. I'm looking for a job that pays decently, and was impressed with all the job listings for that area in the Washington Post. (Jobs suck where I live outside Pittsburgh.) Anybody who lives there, works there, been there, offer any advice to me? Currently I live about 4 hours away, but the closest to D.C. that I've been is Annapolis. Any impressions of that area appreciated.

I've read these two articles in the Contra Costa Times that I think totally capture the pretentiousness and keeping up with the Jones' attitude that is so prevelant here. People in Nor Cal try to claim Southern Californian's are fake, well isn't that the kettle calling the pot black. Please read these two articles and tell me what you think:

From what I have found in my research there are only 2 ways to get married in Vancouver:
1. Church
2. Hire a commissioner of marriage to perform anywhere you want the wedding (house, park etc)
My question, can Vancouverites have a courthouse wedding?

Myself along with a group of friends are going to Jamaica in March and we have changed our mind on where we're staying (Beaches Boscobel) because it is too expensive. And Boscobel seems to cater to families rather than young adults/singles. Any ideas on a reasonably priced hotel ($275/night and below), preferably all-inclusive?
