I have 1 day to spend in Miami before my Caribbean cruise. What tourist things should I do?

Also, where should I stay? Is it worth staying out by the port?

For me, it started when I was a little girl, about age 11, when I would watch anime. Some of the things I saw in anime got me interested in their culture. I would read about Japan all the time. I love it. I took Japanese courses to learn their language. I just think it's such a great place and I hope to go one day.

Last month, while coming back from Las Vegas (MD-80 Aircraft, Allegiant Airlines) - The smaller plane I was on hit massive weather (Hail and Thunderstorm) -- along with extreme turbulence. There was a 20 minute period, where the pilot seemed to lose control of the aircraft - As the wings pitched wildly, and we were almost upside down at one point. Then hail hit the fuselage, and it sounded like the air frame was breaking apart as we dropped in huge 50-100 foot incrememnts through the clear air turbulence.

I've never been a nervous flyer, and I fly several times a year. Now I'm pretty much terrified to get back on an airplane -- And I was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to overcoming my fear?

I stayed at a Vegas hotel over the weekend with a couple of friends. We're medium level gamblers and built up a decent size comp. We ate and drank at this casino and billed them to our room. When we checked out, we talked to the casino host to comped out our stay. He used all our comp points and said everything - food, drinks, room - is taking care of. Soon after I returned home from Vegas, I checked my credit card and saw $400 in hotel charges. After days of tracking the appropriate people down, the host denied ever comping our room, but only our food and beverage. He said there's nothing he or I can do about it, and it was simply a miscommuncation on OUR part. He gave me his director's number but said that he won't be able to help us either. Did I get screwed by the casino???

I've seen an advertisement that a new company would be providing non-stop long haul flights to various destinations. But I also found out that almost all of their planes are at least 17 years old. I'm just wondering whether those planes are considered old or not. Thanks in advance for any information provided.
