I'd take crayons and a coloring book or a blank paper tablet for the two year old, plus his/her favorite stuffed animal or toy, and some snacks, like cheese its, or crackers or what ever you give as a snack. As for the 8 month old, not sure he/her may sleep the whole ride, if your using formula still, have it pre made before you go through the check point. You can take a couple of baby foods, so if it's a feeding time you'll be good, at least at our airport, I think we allowed two to go through. You can't bring any baby lotion, or anything of that sort. I've never flown with my two year old, but I hope this may have helped a little.

I hope you are not traveling alone...however, if you are traveling by plane....
I personally do not like to see children harnessed and "on a leash". However, if I had 2 small children, (one of which is at an age when they wander off quickly), I would put the older one in it in a heartbeat! (those came out when my son was a baby and I thought they were AWFUL and refused to get one- my son is now 25yrs old) It is so easy to lose sight of a little one, and there are too many "crazies" in the world!
For the baby, make sure you have a few pacifiers with you for the plane. (in case one falls, you always have a clean one) the suckling action will help with the "popping ears".
Bring books that will keep the 2 yr old entertained. (don't bring toys w/ small pieces as they can drop and easily be lost, causing the child to become upset)
If you are traveling by car, you might have it a bit easier. Stop at rest stops often allowing the 2 year old to "run off some energy". (again, keep a CLOSE EYE ON HIM!!) (i'm sure you would anyway, but it only takes one second!)
Good luck

Nothing liquid in the cup because it will be emptied at the airport.
Hope you don't get a crab sitting beside you. Go to the $ store and get some of those pop-up books or books that you can pull the tab up or down and different pictures appear. Take a mini "magna doodle", small pillow and a favorite stuffed toy. Have a great time on your trip.

You will have to buy a set for the two year old. If you are up for the challenge, infants travel free if you hold them on your lap.
