I stayed at a Vegas hotel over the weekend with a couple of friends. We're medium level gamblers and built up a decent size comp. We ate and drank at this casino and billed them to our room. When we checked out, we talked to the casino host to comped out our stay. He used all our comp points and said everything - food, drinks, room - is taking care of. Soon after I returned home from Vegas, I checked my credit card and saw $400 in hotel charges. After days of tracking the appropriate people down, the host denied ever comping our room, but only our food and beverage. He said there's nothing he or I can do about it, and it was simply a miscommuncation on OUR part. He gave me his director's number but said that he won't be able to help us either. Did I get screwed by the casino???

Yea, I've dealt with many casino hosts before, and this guy was by far the worst. No sense of customer service whatsoever. Thanks for all the advice. I'll definitely dispute the charges after I've spoken to the director.

It certainly sounds like the casino is giving you the shaft. However, you can refuse to pay this charge on your bill by sending a letter to the credit card company. Pay the rest of your bill and write a letter explaining your side of the story. The credit card company will get between you and the casino and work things out. This is a very powerful tool that I've used a few times, and it has worked beautifully.

Look in the fine print on your credit card bill about the procedure to dispute a charge. It takes a little work on your part but is the best way to resolve such a dispute.

It is very possible . Unless you missed something that you needed to do to qualify for your comp. Sometimes the hotels require you sign up for a certain activity or tournament when you are there. One time I had a free room based on signing up and participatin in a blackjack tournemant. You have to be very careful to get the info when you check-in in writing.

The odds they took a look at your stay and decided not to comp you because you didnt gamble enough. Hotels are known to do that. ( Its not legal though ). If you got some kind of upfront bill or letter when you checked in showing your room was free you can go to your credit card company and decline the charges. If you have no documentation you could be in trouble. Vegas hotels can be very sneaky at times. Their is a good chance it is simply an error on their part though, and not intentional.

I had something similar happen to myself and a co-worker at a mainstream hotel on the strip. We gambled a lot and made sure the pit bosses as well as the casino host paid attention to our high level stakes. The casino host approached us and asked what our room number was and from there he would be comping our room, food etc. He said it in front of myself, my co-worker, and the customers we were entertaining.

I got back to work and they had charged my company AMEX the full room amount. The casino host got back to me and claimed he was only going to comp our dinners. Fortunately, my co-worker is the company lawyer so the host quickly comped our rooms and our customer's.

Pretty much! You should still contact the director, and let the director know that if your issue is not resolved, then you will continue to go up the chain of command. If all else fails, dispute the charges!!

Yes you have been screwed.

The only thing they should have charged to your room were phone calls- since they are taxed.
