Why do ppl call toronto T. DOT???

It's the new slang language LoL. There is T.Dot also T.O. for our city of Toronto.
It's like the saying "The Big Apple"-NewYork or NY...or
CINN CINN for Cincinnati-did i spell that right? sorry i am Canadian

I would say because of the period after the iNitial "T"..so
T. would be Tdot. Here in TEnnessee, we call the Tennessee Department of Transportation Tdot, because that's the initials on the side of their equipment. TDOT.

I don't know but, where I'm from, that stands for Tennessee Dept. of Transportation.
That's why I clicked on it. I saw TDOT and thought, "oh I know that one," but turns out I was wrong.
