I heard Flagstaff can be quite expensive. AZ has some of the most expensive colleges in the Country and it is not cheap to live in AZ. I wouldn't suggest moving to AZ for a college education. The UofA is supposed to be the best and Tucson is nice. But you should take the other's advice and she should look for a college for the quality of the program.

She should really choose a college according to what she wants to study, not because of the nice weather or the housing. That said, the big colleges in Arizona are U of A in Tucson, Arizona State U in Phoenix and Northern Arizona U in Flagstaff. Of those three I think Flagstaff would be the cheaper area to live.

Choosing a college based on the cost of rent in the area seems silly. There is not going to be a significant difference as all the major cities of Arizona have apartments and other rentals at a wide variety of prices.

That said, it's really not that difficult to research this kind of thing online. Here's just one website: http://www.forrent.com/

NAU is a great choice, and living in or around Flagstaff is an excellent choice, yes, a little high for rent, but the quality of life is well worth it! :)

I disagree with the Flagstaff area. I think it's quite pricey. I depends on which college to wants to go to. Tucson has reasonable rent. What's wrong with dorm living? Has she looked into it?

She really should choose her college by the college and not the cost of living in the city.

Tucson is cheapest, but also has the lowest paying jobs if she had to work.

i don't know why people are chiding you for considering living expenses! of course it's important. flagstaff is nice if you like snow. asu is good if you like to wear sandals year round. u of a in tucson will have the most expensive tuition.
