We are looking for somewhere that we can drive to from Florida. We usually go out West but are curious to what are the best ski resorts nearer to us?

They have to allow snowboarding as well! Thanks!

I've been snowboarding for almost 7 years now. I can hold my own on some diamond runs. But one day I would like to try skiing (maybe this weekend at Tahoe). I was wondering if anyone thinks I should still get a paid lesson, or would I be able to learn on my own? I think I can learn on my own, but maybe just some verbal tips is all I need...

In a recentl;y answered question it was stated that 5150 boards were made by Ride and in another answer i heard someone said that most snowboards are made in the same factorys?. Also ages ago i heard a rumour that Elan made snowboards for 10 different snowboard brands? Is any of this true and if so what factory produces snowboards for what different brands?

I'm just curious. I've noticed a lot of women's boards have a much smaller waist, and I'm not sure if I like this, mainly because I don't have small feet! Also I'm not your typical build either. I'm about 5'8, 145 - 150lbs, and a size 10 to 11 shoe in womens (I'm also flat footed so I usually wear men's shoes because they give me more room). Is there a huge difference between the boards? I'm still learning and about to buy my own board so I just want to know if I'll be at a disadvantage if I decide to use a men's board. Please let me know what you guys think!

I just bought a new pair of figure skates and I used them for about half an hour and it started hurting a lot because the sides dug into my skin above my ankles and left cuts. are there any ways to break in skates? are there ways without wearing them? (my ankles still hurt and it was a week ago)

I currently have a 147 Burton Feather board, and when I hold the board up, it goes up to a tiny bit above my nose. As I'm still in the learning stage, I was wondering if a shorter board would help me to learn. I see Burton Troop boards that I really like, but they come in 140, 146 and up - nothing in between.
Is a 140 better for me or a 146?

Anja Paerson has won the women's downhill in Are, Sweden in 1.26.89, would the men be any faster, if so, by how much?

Could men and women compete directly against each other?

This is about the best figure skaters (ice dancers, I think) I've ever seen. I saw them on eurosport about two months ago. They were dressed in black and looked like a batman and a batwoman or something similar and they moved very fast and with extreme precision. I think they were the winners in some championship. Does anyone know who they are or where I can find anything about them?

Im going up snowboarding soon, and I'd like to buy some good quality clothing, but I dont want to pay too much for it. Where would be a good place to go? Also I was considering buying a jacket and snowpants and then returning them when I get back, but I heard that you cant return those types of things. What do you think? Thanks!
