I am 14 years old and we are going on a feild trip to a ski and snowboarding hill. I chose to go snowboarding. I have never been snowboarding in my life. Is it fun? Is there anything i need to know before I attempt to go down the hill?

Hi, I've just signed up to go on a snowboarding holiday with some friends but it's my first time on the white stuff!! So I don't know what I'm going to need??? I'm only going for a week and I've hired all the equipment but should I buy a ski jacket and goggles etc?? Any recommendations for where I should buy ski jackets or trousers? Also trainers will be fine, right? Thanks!

I was watching back my old tv recorded figure skating competition tapes, and the comentators commented that Sarah Hughes "cheats" in some of her jumps?? They showed the replay is super slow motion and drew a circle around the skating foot that was about to take off. Was something wrong with her foot positioning or did she not complete all 3 revolutions in her triple jumps?

I think it's very very difficult to capture the essence of the music especially when skaters use Ravel's Bolero because the music's repetitive throughout and it's easily to just skate the same throughout without showing a contrast in speed and style.

Ive only been skiing twice in my life, but I picked it up very quickly.... The last time I went was last year, and I learned how to parralel ski. I havent perfected it yet, so I was wondering if its a good idea to just hit the slopes, and try and perfect that skill before I take another lesson... any opinions?

where can i buy a spinner for off ice practise in the UK? any websites where you can order them? and also are they any good do they work? i kinda like 2 hear from people who have used them in the past or use them now. is it like spinning? coz how do you wind up? is it harder than on ice or easier or completely different??

I'm off snowboarding on Friday to France. I have booked my 6 year old son in for skiing lessons with the ESF (all day lessons). I am now having second thoughts about it. I think he will get all sore and achey and tired and want to give up. Does anyone have experience of taking a child this young skiing? I have seen loads of other kids ski that are younger than 6, but worry about the stamina of my own. Please help! Do you think he will be ok? I know you don't know him, so no smart answers please.

I'm a competitive ice dancer. My partner and I have been competeing together (both on our second partnerships) for seven years this month. We used to pairs skate, but now mainly do ice dancing (sort of ballroom dancing on ice, to simplify things greatly).

We're doing this benefit in the summer, not a standard competition. Therefore, no CD/OD/FD regulations. We're skating three dances, one must have a latin feel (think Cha-Cha/Samba/Rumba), one must have more of a traditional ballroom feel (think Waltz/Tango/Foxtrot), and the other is a freestyle. We need songs for each.

What we'd like:

Latin: Sexual undertones (without being unappropriate), passionate, medium tempo.
Ballroom: Slower tempo, more lovey-dovey then passionate.
Freestyle: FUN! Fast tempo.

Any suggestions?

I just was wondering which elite (Novice, Junior, or Senior level) or famous figure skaters are Christians or Jews. I am a Christian, so it would be nice to know which ones share my faith, or share a very similar faith (Judaism). I do not mean to offend anyone, so don't bash me, please!

I bought new ski boots last year and was clearly not given the advice I should have. I have size 10 1/2 to 11 feet and I was sold size 29.5 boots. They fit very well around my calves, however I seem to have to much space to move my feet around inside the boot. Would buying an insert help? I am a fairly aggressive skier, have Rossi Salto entry level boots (intend to buy new ones in a year or two, but need a fix to get me through until then). The buckles around the foot are very easy to lock (hardly any pressure needed) and I basically need to get a tighter fit around that area. I am finding it hard to transfer control to my ski's when I get more aggressive.

im working on my beillman. but i need more back flexibility, wat good exercises for off ice are there to improve flexibility in my back?? also i have pretty flexible legs/hips but my front splits arent quite flat but like 1 inch up and i really want flat splits so what good exercises are there for splits; ones which really work?? im talking front splits by the way not side.
