Snowbarding is the best! Your gonna have a great time.
What you need to know, is that you can't be afraid! Start easy and work your way up.
A few words of caution:
- if you hit an ice patch, don't try to stop untill you ride by it
- try to stay centered on the board (if you lean backwards, trying to slow down, you'll only speed up!)
- If people get in your way.......well at least try to slow down....but i won' feel bad if you run them over :P
- don't listen to the advice random people tell you (out of experience)
If your feeling daring, try something just out of your comfort zone, but ride with someone with experience. And on that note, always ride with a friend.

snowboarding is so much fun! I've snowboarded since i was 8 and love it! But since this is your first time going there are a few things you might want to know before you go. One thing is that you cannot be afraid. Thats one major problem with begginer snowboarders, they are afraid of speed and falling which leads me to another thing...you ARE going to fall. Theres no ifs ands or buts about it, when you have never snowboarded before you are going to fall...alot! another thing you may want to know is how to turn, when you want to do an inside turn lean foward on your toes making sure that your knees are bent and that you are not bent over at the waiste. if you want to pull an outside turn lean back on your heels andbend your knees. one last piece of advice is do not get discouraged, boarding is hard to learn for most people but easy once you get the hang of it. Don't think because you didn'tdo well that you should never try it again! good luck!

snowboarding fun ??????
once you 'board' , ski will = 'bored'
if you can skateboard or surf, then you will have no probs !
i skated for nearly 12 years before i tried snowboarding and i was carving and doing arials in less than half an hour. unlike my friend who had only skied before and he took nearly 3 days just to go down an easy slope without 'eating the pumkin', of course trying stop when he wanted to still caused him to stack it.
i say get on a skateboard for a few hours to get the feel and your balance. just remember, your feet are strapped in on a snowboard and that you cant slide sideways at a low speed on a skateboard (which you will be doing alot at the beginning with the snowboard - finding your balance)
however, its only snow ! not concrete !
think of it as a 'Nike' deal........ 'JUST DO IT'
ehhehee
:P

I know how you are feeling, I started at 14 aswel, and have been doing it for 2 years.
Personally, I found it incredibly fustraiting when I first started snowboarding. It took two days before I had fun, cause I fell over alot!
I strongly suggest you get lessons rather than learning by yourself, and constantly remind yourself what a great oppertunity you have been given.
After you get over the initial bump, you will love it!

I'm 14 too, and I've been snowboarding for a few years, and finally got a new board. It's one of the funnest things that i can think of. I never took lessons, and that was dumb, but I learned with a friend, and we had a blast. Just keep your knees bent, relax, and have fun!

Learn how to stop! To do that just press either your toes or heels into the mountain and you'll stop on that edge. Always keep your weight on your front foot unless you are riding on deep powder. To turn, turn your knees toward eachother to turn on to your toe edge, and away from eachother to turn onto your heel edge. If it's your first time and you've never skateboarded before, expect to be on you butt most of the day. But it is so worth it once you get the hang of it!

i could say snowboarding is a sprint harder to earnings before each little thing, yet should not be lots concern for you, you be attentive to snow circumstances as a skier and you have some comparable journey which will probable help you p.c.. it up surprisingly rapidly. have fun with.

It's really fun. I went last weekend, actually!! You just need to have good balance, remember to bend your knees, and stand up straight with your shoulders aligned with your hips. It's VERY FUN!
