Winter Sports

I'm going to learn how to snowboard for the first time tomorrow. What should I wear underneath my coat and snowpants? I've heard that there's certain rules about material and stuff... any help is appreciated!

I just installed my bindings (4 square) and it seemed odd.
First of all, the screws barely poked through the back and so I can't image a lot of thread connection. I kind of worked them down using the alternative X-pattern to tighten.

I just wanted to know if that's how it felt, like they're barely hanging in there. I understand they can't be too long, or they'll go through the board....but still.

I would like to start training my neighbor's Havanese for dog sledding (just like the Iditarod!...almost). As I am somewhat addicted to skiing, I have plenty of skiing gear around, but as I am new to the dog sledding hobby, I haven't got a sled yet.

I do, however, know that severl dog sledding races have already been cancelled this year due to lack of sufficient snow cover in some areas. This means that I have until next winter to find a dog sled anyways; they'll probably go on sale over the summer, eh?

Would it be beneficial to start training the dog this winter by having him pull me around while I wear a pair of skis?

Any other suggestions for training a sled dog for racing sans sled would be appreciated.

Also, any suggestions regarding a technique for training cats for my sledding team would be appreciated as well. I know I'm not a "cat person;" I have tried training a cat by having it pull me while I wore my skis, but it just ran away...

I really need help with a beilman I've always wanted to do one but I just can't seem to get my foot above my head, or grab my foot with both hands, and I even have trouble figuring out where to put my hand on my blade to bring it up. So I pretty much don't know much about it.
Also any tips on how to do a Sasha Cohen spiral. The one where she does the full splits in a spiral then grabs her skating leg and puts her nose to her knee.

(Not really part of the question but if you have any tips on how to do a double axel that would be greatly appreciated)

I'm not really flexible in my back but I'm pretty flexible in my legs. Even though I can't do the splits; but I'm close.

They seemed to fit pretty well and because of the pump system seem to stop any heel lift. Are these as good as the Burton Ion or other boots or better? I have a Burton Vapor and ride mostly freeride in the Rockies. Are they comfortable and offer enough stiffness, support etc...?

I recently bought a set of Burton P1 snowboard bindings off of ebay, but the highback on one of the bindings was broken. Does anyone know what type of high backs are compatible with the P1s (i.e. skyback)? Thanks guys.

ive been skiing since i was 5.now im 12. skiings geting kinda boring. should i snowboard now??? ive tried it a couple times and all i could do is fall on my butt.lol. i kinda wanna switch but i also wanna keep skiin so i can get really good. my dad wont let me do both. what do u think i should do?????

My friend and I love to figure skate. Everytime she falls when she does sprirslals, walz jumps and other things. I know that some falls can really hurt evan on the easy stuff. I want to help her, because we are going in a competion soon and i know she will cry if she messes up or i place higher, i would do the same but not in front of people. Only if she places higher than me. Do you have any thing that will help? Thank You!!

what are the best methods for injury prevention in snowboarding, especially people who do tricks? I have the impact pads for my tailbone, wrist guards, knee pads, helmet, and a dirt bike pressure suit that protects the upper half of my spine. however, my lower back is exposed. do the RED burton spine protectors protect the whole spine?

also, I work out in the gym to prevent injury and be a better boarder. are there other strategies for injury prevention?

Does anyone here know anything about the atomic Fallen Angel 152 women's snowboard or the Ride Kink 152/156 men's board? Or how about the brands in general?
