what are the best methods for injury prevention in snowboarding, especially people who do tricks? I have the impact pads for my tailbone, wrist guards, knee pads, helmet, and a dirt bike pressure suit that protects the upper half of my spine. however, my lower back is exposed. do the RED burton spine protectors protect the whole spine?

also, I work out in the gym to prevent injury and be a better boarder. are there other strategies for injury prevention?

When I first started hitting the park I did that same thing as you an bought a whole bunch of protective gear. Wrist guards, spine protector. I got rid of it after about half a season though. I just found it all to be too cumbersome and restricting and at the end of the day it will only save you some bruises.

The best thing to do is just to start small and progressively work your way up to bigger jumps and hits. As you improve you'll get a better sense of what causes you to fall and how to avoid it or at least anticipate and prepare for it. Just plan out your hits, visualize what you're going to do, and practice. You'll outgrow all the pads pretty quickly. Now I pretty much ride with only my helmet.

There's always the chance of a freak accident, but that's pretty much life.

Know your limits, and don't get too out of control. You're smart to be taking safety precautions. Sometimes they offer classes in freestyle at resorts where they teach you the proper way to learn new tricks, and stay safe while doing the old ones.

Stay home. But if you must then your doing everything you can. Being smart is the best thing and if your going to trick out then get protective gear which you have. Also stretch stretch stretch stretch stretch. Before, during and after.
