You need thermals, plenty of socks and ski outerwear either a one piece or jacket and trousers. Don't forget the snowboots (these are a must and the hire ones are not very hygienic). You will find that the skis do not come with the lesson but you have either purchased or need to purchase in the resort a ski package. I have a friend who has ski boots for sale that have only been worn for an hour and now she has to sell them on ebay (see my 360) You also need gloves and hat and of course clothes for apres ski although you will probably be worn out if this is your first time skiing. Comfort should always come first when skiing. Have a fabulous holiday! Hope you master the art.

but all you skiwear from a store like animal or freeride, this includes gloves, skiisocks, goggles, sallapettes, thermal, a thick skii coat and possibly even a skiing essentials pack(lip salve, factor 35 sun block, compass, bandage) however, buying essentials kits at resorts is usally better because they contain maps of the runs and surrounding areas. If this is your first time, wait and rent your equipment there, if your intermediate you may just want to buy your own pair of skii boots, and if your advanced skiier, you may want to buy all your equipment here. Buy two of every listed item of clothing besides the coat, goggles, sallapettes and essential kit. Not only can you skii but activities like skiidoo rides, sleighing, hiiking and climbing should be optional. There are usally sports centres in austrian alps resorts, here you can play football, squash, spaa, swim, work out in the gym or have a go on the artifical climbing wall. be warned, the fact that when you first get on the skiis and you can't stand up properly whilst kids are doing it is disheartning, but these kids have either lived in the austrian alps all their lives or have been on a skiing holiday and already learnt how to skii, don't give up but don't become over confident, there aren't many injuries in skiing but the injuries that do happen are nasty. before you know it, you'll be doing black runs and parrallel turns in no time.

How about a pair of Alpine ski boots, I have a pair and they are so warm for walking around in the snow. Dont forget your skiing jacket and trousers, there is currently a great offer on in Tesco on their ski wear. Have a look maybe? Have you had any skiing lessons before? I went skiing to escape, it was great! Good luck on your skiing holiday, and have a great time... Bring me back a present please.

Make sure to invest in lessons so that you can enjoy apres ski instead of nursing wounds suffered due to not knowing what you are doing!

bring a camera, take it all in.
dress in layers, wear goggles, gloves, hat, etc. since it's your first time, you will probably fall a few times, be prepared. watch out for ice and slick patches. be aware of your surrowndings.
have fun.
