I currently have a 147 Burton Feather board, and when I hold the board up, it goes up to a tiny bit above my nose. As I'm still in the learning stage, I was wondering if a shorter board would help me to learn. I see Burton Troop boards that I really like, but they come in 140, 146 and up - nothing in between.
Is a 140 better for me or a 146?

Depending on what your foot size is a 140 board might fit you good but you would grow out of it quick. A 147 seems like a good size board for you. A 140 is only 7cm shorter so it wont make too much of a difference, with a 146 you won't noticw any difference at all. The Troop is a nice womens board but it is pricy and mostly made for park and pipe. The feather is a good board to learn on and it is made for groomed and powder conditions.

well since you are starting, you should go out and keep buying boards until you find the perfect one. but 140 is WAY too short for you. i am 5' 3" and ride a 146 or 148.. can't remember lol. but 140 is definitely too short

you really can't go by a chart when getting sized for a board.....all boards are different and it all depends on what kind of board you want to ride and how much you weigh, (sometimes how large your feet are also, if they are really large for your size) your best bet is to go into a ski shop and look at the board you want....anyways the board you mentioned at 140cm is just fine for your size....oh btw Konrad is on crack or something.....anyways...have fun and good luck!!!
