Highest Speed on a Snowboard
The highest recorded speed by a snowboarder is 201.907km/h (125.459mph) by Darren Powell (Australia) at Les Arcs, France on 2 May 1999.

The current world record is 251.4 km/h (156 mph). Speed skiers regularly exceed 200 km/h (125 mph), which is even faster than terminal velocity, the equilibrium speed of a body free-falling through the atmosphere. The terminal velocity of a skydiver in a normal free-fall position with a closed parachute is about 193 km/h (120 mph).

If you're just looking for speed, more speed and nothing but speed, you may be surprised to know that when measuring a given a skier and boarder, of equal ability, skiing beats snowboarding virtually every time, in terms of velocity. There is physics involved, explaining why skiing has an edge. Suffice to say, if you were to compare speed records for both skiers and boarders, the skiers will always be faster. Style-wise, in fact, there is a noted lack of interest in snowboarding events that parallel skiings' "Super-G" or "downhill" style racing; and these are the FAST events on snow. Snowboarding, instead, is more pleasing in different formats, not generally focusing on downhill speed: boardercross (sibling to motocross and BMX racing style), slopestyle (like the SSX video game) and the halfpipe (dope tricks). I'd take snowboarding over skiing, any day, for tricks. But for getting down to the bottom of the mountain: Skiing all the way, baby!

Ski is faster. Also skis can hold speed butter through turns due to having 2 edges transferring force rather than 1. For example this is why skiers can go so much higher out of the half pipe than snowboarders.

Yeah skiing is faster as there is less surface area on the ground with a set of skis than there is on a snowboard.

All depends on how fast you like to go. I think that they are equall exept that i ski and a fly past snowboarders all the time. Also skiers don't fall down as much so they can go fast without having to worry if they know how to stop. Hope this helps.
