I have been coming across an increasing number of High Point hand guns at the gun shows. The prices are really low for 9mm around $165. a .40 and .45 app. $180. Are these decent, reliable?

I have a box of Black Talons as well as another box of ammo purchased for home protection use. Both boxes are 14 or 15 years old, and kept inside the house. Are they still "good"? Are there any concerns about using them?

I have my Marlin 30/30 model 30as sighted in for 50 yards with 150 gr bullets. Yesterday, I just picked up a box of Hornady LeverEvolution bullets that are 160 gr. What the zero be different if I used the Hornady 160 gr bullets for deer hunting? I'm going tomorrow so there's no chance to sight it in for 160gr... would my scope still be effective to make an accurate shot with the 160 grs even tho it's sighted in for 150 grs?

I've been kind of curious about this for awhile now and a previous post sparked my interest. I'm a casual deer hunter, I go deer hunting about every 2-3 years. I don't bother with camo or scent blockers, I smoke in the tree stand and yet I still usually have no problems filling my tag (elk are a whole different story, sigh...) , I know deers noses are pretty sensitive, but so is my beagles. I've seen her miss a rabbit that was upwind of her just a few yards but able to get a hot scent from a rabbit 50 yards downwind. I've seen the same thing with my labs and pheasants, if one is downwind of them, they will find it a long way, upwind they might hear it, but they don't go on point until they smell it, which is pretty close sometimes.

My personal thoughts are the deers noses are sensitive enough to pick you up downwind no matter what you do, scent blocks etc. but if you are upwind of them, they just about have to step on you before they scent you. What do you all think?

I went to Walmart today and they were charging $536 for a Remington 700 SPS 30-06.

MSRP is $604

I was just wondering if this price sounds fair... Has anyone gotten their SPS for cheaper?

Let's say one is setting up a range... There's a good berm at one end of the property (actually a hill) it is 700' long this property. It would be a squeeze, but one could set up 200 yds lanes. It is also 400' wide, about 6.5 acres. Would this only be suitable for skeet and/or small bore?
