Please no answers just telling me to go to a gun dealer and ask. It's my father-in-law's gun and we are both curious.

He said it's just a model 1979. Came out just before they made the 1100. It's a 12 gauge.

The Model number should be engraved right on the shotgun...Model 12 Sportsman maybe ???
