I'd like to go hunting, but just moved here and haven't gone through a mandatory hunters safety course yet. My favorite deer gun is a Marlin 1895GS with a nice little mystery 4x scope on it. Unfortunately, it's shotgun only here, so I'll be using my Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel and Lightfield EXP slugs.

My most memorable hunting experience is a rather nasty one. I was out varminting with a buddy of mine back in the midwest on plowed fields. He gets kinda tired, so we start heading back. When we get back to the road, I cleared my rifle, and before he does, he shoots me in the leg. He claims to have dry-fired it to make sure it was empty, but I always think he did it on purpose. Luckily, no serious damage was done, as it hit the bone and made a left hand turn out the side.

Hi there! Great question! I am the mother of a nine year old girl. I have been hunting for about 7 years (squirrel, rabbit, deer) and have two bucks on the wall. I LOVE to hunt. There is absolutely nothing like being out in the woods in the cool, crisp air watching the sun come up or go down, the squirrels running around, birds singing. Everything. It is so relaxing. Other ladies can keep their manicures, lol! That being said, my daughter has been in the woods with her dad or myself for the past 3 years and she loves it. Last year she sat in a shooting house all by herself (of course, I was only about 50 feet behind her in a tree, but she was still all by herself in her mind!) and she had 3 does walk out on her. She will be sitting by herself a time or two again this year as well. She is super excited about opening weekend (this weekend) and can not wait to have a deer hanging on the wall.

By the way- I have a 20 gauge pump shotgun, a 12 gauge pump shotgun, and a .280 rifle (no, not a .270) break action. My daughter has a 410/.22 with interchangeable barrels and a .243.

So, I hope that you have an amazing time in the woods this weekend! Whether you bag one or not, you are sure to have a memorable experience!!!

I go hunting with my husband. I use a compound bow. I have never been gun hunting. I prefer the hunt more with my bow.

I shot my first deer this year. Nice size doe. There is no feeling like it in the world. But since I'm pregnant right now I didn't have to drag it out of the woods or gut it LOL That to me was the best part HA HA HA

My 12 year old daughter and I went on Monday morning and shet bagged her first deer ever!!! I'm very proud of her!

We've been going squirrel and dove hunting together since she was 10. Exposure to hunting and the outdoors has given her a better respect for nature, wildlife and our earth. It has also taught her responsibilty, respect for living beings, and not to be wasteful.

My favorite thing to hunt is ducks and geese. It's great to watch them work the decoys, making several passes until they're sure it's safe. Getting a flight of honkers to decoy in is pretty tough, so on opening day when we had a small flock come into our combination spread, we were pretty excited. We knocked all of them down and one was banded. (The banded one hit my cousin and knocked him down)lol

I bird hunt with a Remington 870
