Has anyone here tried a Red Dot sight before? How do you think it would work on a muzzleloader?(not talking about laser sights)

While I was walking my dog in a forest like park a person that was hunting accidentally shot him he is okay and is currently in the vets care. Can I do something about this because at the time my dog was "going". He was not moving and he was shot. The person who shot him didnt even apologize all he did was just walk away. When my parents told hi to pay for the vet bills he just said that the dog was in his way.

Would it cost a lot to install iron sights on a rifle that did not come with them from the factory ?

I'm aware that it would cost differently from gun shop to gun shop. I would just like a round about price

I'm back from hunting whitetail deer in Parry Sound, Ontario, and during the entire week there was this one deer I saw multiple times that, when alerted or afraid, would yell out this high-pitched, throaty scream that would resonate throughout the forest. I went on YouTube immediately when I got home and didn't find any videos showing this weird scream. I also searched on Yahoo! and couldn't find any answers.

Is this the weirdest thing you have ever heard of? Have you ever seen it happen or heard it happen? I've heard buck calls before but nothing like this. Hopefully I'm not the only one in the world to have witnessed a screaming doe.

I’m concerned about protection from bears and mountain lions in the backcountry while fishing. How would a .45 "Long" Colt measure up to a .44 magnum against a brown or grizzly bear?

Jurors heard opening arguments on Tuesday in the trial of a bird-watching enthusiast who fatally shot a cat that he said was stalking endangered shorebirds.

The defendant, James M. Stevenson, is the founder of the Galveston Ornithological Society and leads bird-watching tours on this Gulf Coast island 60 miles southeast of Houston. If convicted on animal cruelty charges in the shooting last November, he faces up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

1) I know it helps to control the population of deer, etc
2) And I know most kills are eaten..

However it still seems so wrong to kill a beautiful deer or any wild animal...

its not me he's 14 and he's "Mentally heathy" He doesn't have any secert desires. And he's shot about 4000 rounds with me it's his mom that is the major block. His mom even lets him shoot. His dad and mom paid like 600$ for him his dad, and me and my dad to go have private lessons with a gold medalist in trap shooting, for his 10th birthday to go. Is there any facts that would help here. Heeven has a hunting license for small game. He passed hunters ed with almost a perfect score. The problem is she thinks that it wouldn't be safe. Any facts or any other advice

I want to buy my dad a leather holdter for his XD-40 for Christmas. He is left handed so it makes the shopping a little harder. He is a retired police officer and would like one that has some type of locking mechanism/retention.

Last year i bought a Ruger GP100 revolver, chambered in .357 / .38special and have enjoyed target shooting and varmit obliterating in my back yard (rural iowa) as well as a for property defense purposes on a few occasions (keeping well within the legal texts of my applicable laws). It is for the latter that i have begun to feel the need for a semi-automatic clip-fed handgun of a larger (read: engine-stopping) caliber.

Two handguns of similar price and merits are the Heckler & Koch USP.45, in full-frame version with 12-round magazine, or the Desert Eagle .50, with i believe a 7-round magazine. While the reduced clip size of the DEagle is unfortunate, the point of clips is to be quickly replacable, so it isn't a big factor to me. Also, i can shoot my .357 single-handed ambidextrously without any wrist pain, so the DEagle shouldn't be unbearable in normal use. However, the USP is meant for tactical assault, so its accuracy will likely be far better.

Which gun would you choose here?

A recent question here brought up my curiousity, the man asked why people call ammunition bullets, in the answers to his question another user brought up people using the term clip instead of the proper magazine term, that one drives me nuts, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. Another one that get to me is when people confuse 45LC with 45acp, dunno why that one gets to me but it does.
What's you pet peeves about improper terminology concerning firearms and ammo?
I can't be the only one that has "issues" with this?
