I wont to buy a sako 85 but they only have 22 inch barrels. I am wondering if this barrel is to short for a 25-06? Would a 24 inch barrel be better or is a 22 inch barrel long enough?
i wont the gun to be very accurate.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out with this question. If you have prior experience or cite sources, that'll help me a lot.

I've been thinking of purchasing a handgun for a friend. Unfortunately, my friend is under 21. I know only I can legally purchase a handgun, and he cannot as that's federal law. But at least in Ohio, it's legal for someone under 21 to possess a handgun (as far as I know and have experienced). It gets a more complicated: I'm an Ohio resident, so if I buy my handgun and use an FFL I must buy my handgun in Ohio. I know I can buy a handgun just from any store/show and not have to deal with the FFL crap (still a background check), but in Michigan you must apply for a permit to purchase a handgun (what a ridiculously stupid law!), so even if I don't use an FFL I'll mostly likely be buying within Ohio

So... can I purchase a handgun in Ohio and gift to someone under 21 who is a resident of Michigan (and who'll have to register the handgun)?

I'm working on developing a hot (3200 + fps) round for varmint / medium short range shooting. What I'm going for is similar performance to a 22-250 or a hot .223.

I've got my bird soaking in the brine and the smoker all ready to go for tomorrow a.m......except I can't decide if I should use hickory or mesquite.

I'm in west Texas, so mesquite is often the smoke of choice around here, but hickory reminds me so much of the South where I grew up.

ANYWAY.....not really too bothered by my dilemma, just wanted to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone and to remind everyone to remember to give thanks to the Almighty for our many blessings in whatever manner you and your family prefer.

And I know a lot of you (like me) will be in the field this week, so be careful out there and keep warm. GOD BLESS and GOOD HUNTING!

Pa. hunter bags rare albino black bear
Tue Nov 20, 8:58 PM ET

SPRING MILLS, Pa. - A Westmoreland County man is having a memorable 2007 bear season. Tom Wisniowski bagged a rare albino black bear Monday on the season's opening day. The female cub weighed 47 pounds.

Wisniowski told The Sentinel in Lewistown that conditions were difficult and at first he thought he was looking at a coyote. But when the bear got a bit closer, he could tell it was an unusual bear.

Wisniowski was hunting with Jeff Gowen of Evansburg and Richard Marther and Andrew Duncan, both of Erie. All four killed bear while hunting together in Centre County.

While hunting whitetails in the great Wisconsin woods I was told by a fellow hunter that if a buck gets shot in the antler it will be confused and not be able to keep it's balance for a while. Is this true?

I heard the reason the later Dragoon pistol had a shorter cylinder was because of incidents where the walker had exploded, are modern replicas still in danger of this?

I want an over/under shotgun for clay shooting. I would like one with a wood stock. I would prefer one with two triggers, but that is not essential. Can anyone recommend a model?

I shot the 303 today at a target about 3 1/2 feet by 3 1/2 feet at over 100 yards and missed it 6 times. I was using the pop-up site which I obviously don't know how to use. Yeah- have some left over 30 06 rounds but no 30 06 gun to shoot em. And just for kicks- I wonder about how much you could sell this old time antique 303 British gun for? Happy shooting.

I want to get into the sport of hunting. I have a couple friends who are newly involved and having a lot of fun.

I was considering a .308 bc it seems to be most versatile, but I'm not quite sure about which rifle I actually want. Any suggestions?
