I like to hunt coyotes, foxes, or any little varmints

I'm looking for a rifle scope to put on this gun. I like to hunt coyotes, foxes, and other varmints. Most shots 200 yards or more. I'm looking at a Bushnell but don't know if I should get it.

A three by nine by forty is more then enough scope. If you wish to shoot a longer distance then step up to the four by twelve by forty four. You have to remember that you are firing a light weight bullet so you will have to compensate for bullet drop. A 222 will nail the center of a target at 100 yards easily. They were made for competition shooting. For more accuracy add a bull barrel onto your rifle.

The triple deuce. I great little round some called the mini 308.

Well I am not sure why all these people love the 3-9x40mm scopes because I do not not for varmint hunting. I would go with nothing less than a 4-16x40mm. Preferring a 6-18x40mm or a 6-24x40mm

Varmint hunting takes good optics. I would not spend any less than $350 on a scope for a varmint rifle. I have a Leupold VX-II 6-18x40mm on my 223 and for them longer shots I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40mm on my 308 Target rifle. Great scopes both of them. I paid $420 for the Leupold and $431 with shipping for the Bushnell. If I had the money I would have went with a Leupold VX-7 both my 223 and 308.

It makes no since to me to put a $75 POS scope on a varmint rifle. Save if you have to and get a high quality scope. that Bushnell sportsview for $75 might be OK for deer hunting but in the varmint world it will do nothing but make you miss.

I am a 25 year varmint hunting veteran with kills from 25 yards all the way out to 329 yards. With everything from a 22lr to a 308. The 329 yard shot was taken in a Almond orchard in Northern California on a ground squirrel with a Ruger M77VT in 220 Swift shooting Sierra 52gr Matchkings.
My latest kill was a Ground hog from 75 yards on a rifle range I help run. He was digging and living in the berm.

Check www.midwayusa.com

they list a bunch of scopes.

I have always liked the Bushnell as a decent quality scope. A 3x9 variable scope for 200 yard shots is adequate.

Midway sells a Bushnell 3x9 for about $75. If you want to step up in quality, you can look at a Nikon scope; a 3x9 of theirs is $180.

Need more power? Bushnell has a nice 4x12 for about $95. The same in a Nikon is $350.

With scopes, you get what you pay for. Midway sells scopes for even lower prices but they are not really good scopes. Bushnell is as low as you should go.

My complements for going with a .222 rather than the .223 it is a superior round it just never caught on in the main stream as did the .223. I personally wont buy anything other than a Leupold but they are expensive but you could go with a 3x9 40mm objective and be fine. If you want to shoot very long distances I would use in the neighborhood of 6x14 50mm objective with a varmint reticle. Hope you find what your looking for.

Iron sights, preferably with the fiberoptic glow-dot reticle.
