its not me he's 14 and he's "Mentally heathy" He doesn't have any secert desires. And he's shot about 4000 rounds with me it's his mom that is the major block. His mom even lets him shoot. His dad and mom paid like 600$ for him his dad, and me and my dad to go have private lessons with a gold medalist in trap shooting, for his 10th birthday to go. Is there any facts that would help here. Heeven has a hunting license for small game. He passed hunters ed with almost a perfect score. The problem is she thinks that it wouldn't be safe. Any facts or any other advice

I like the idea of asking the mother to go shooting, get her interested in it. If that doesn't work have you considered offering to keep the rifle at your house?

Hunting is one of the safest sports known to man, as long as the four rules of firearms safety are followed.

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
This doesn't mean to keep guns loaded all the time, it means always treat any gun with the respect a loaded gun deserves. Most accidents are caused by an "I though it was unloaded" gun.

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
This is the golden rule. Just keep the gun pointed in a safe direction until ready to shoot.

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
If everyone followed Rule II and III, that would prevent the vast majority of firearms accidents. Guns go boom when you pull the trigger, whether you pulled on purpose or not.

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET, AND WHAT IS BEYOND
Rule IV is saying to be careful where you shoot, make sure there is nothing behind the target that could be hit if you miss.

At 14 here in New York, it is illegal for him to have one of his own. Now the fun starts: Take his mother shooting too, don't just leave her sitting home when the rest of the family goes. I have lost to women more than once on both skeet fields and trap ranges. The easiest way to overcome many opponents is to convert them. Then give her the keys to the gun case.

Show her the true stats on firearm injuries and deaths, not the fabricated lies from the anti-gunner Brady bunch.

However, she is his parent, he should honor her decision until she changes it.

The kid is 14? UGH hunters bother me. What is the need to kill animals? You do not need to convince his mom. No is no, and if she has already told him no, just think about it. If one day he accidentally got killed, how would you feel for pressuring his mom? How would she feel? It is not a good idea and it is rude to keep pressuring his mom when she has said NO.
