Does anyone own these rifles? they are both from Walmart the first one is a 101 ATR Bolt-Action Rifle Synthetic MO New Break-Up 30-06 and the second one is a Savage Package Series 111FCXP3 30-06. Any suggestions or comments on these? i'm pretty new to rifle hunting i've hunted with a shotgun and slug all my life.

Last year I shot a Mossberg ATR in .270 and was so impressed with the accuracy I bought my brother one for his birthday. Both of these guns will shoot 1" groups at 100 yards. On the other hand, I have 2 Savage rifles, one an old model 340 in .222rem. and the other a 110 in 25.06 and they are both very accurate also. I haven't shot the 111 but I'm sure the quality is there. For the money you can't beat either of these guns. I have Remingtons, Rugers, Winchesters and Brownings in my safe too and none have the out of box accuracy as the Savage. Either way you go you'll be fine.

You couldn't go wrong with either rifle.

Unless things have changed, Mossberg rifle barrels and actions are made by Howa, the same manufacturer who made barreled actions for Weatherby for many years. So the quality is good to very good.

Savage has a growing reputation for fine accuracy at a modest price.

Pick the one that feels best and best fits your wallet and you will be just fine.

i do not own either gun but honestly i would never buy a guy from walmart. there are varying opinions on walmart guns but i know that many gun shops will have nothing to do with them if you end up having a problem with it.
