I was at my local gunshop yesterday and got to handle one of these pistols for the 1st time, has a very Glock-esque feel to it but with a stainless slide and external safety. Anyone own one and what has been your experience with it? Any troubles or issues? Know of any online articles I could read about it?

I mean absolutely no offense when I say this, but I have NO desire to hear about other handguns or calibers, my interest in this question is about the Ruger SR9 ONLY. Thanks.

I have owned Ruger semi auto pistols in the past and really didn't care for their tanklike feel and construction. This new model seems to have gotten rid of the tanklike aspect.I know Ruger makes a fine firearm, but this new model seems to be their 1st venture into a new venue of firearms for Ruger.

So I saw the 45 used for about $450 I decided to buy since it looked in good condition. I being an idiot did not know difference between ACP and GAP (now I do). So was it a mistake getting this gun? I have not shot it I just got it 2 days ago. I have shot before many of times, but I guess i did not realize there would be difference between 45s. I cant afford a new one right now and I do need a gun for class. The only other used ones where 9mm. I wanted to get a 40 but could not afford new one and they did not have it.

You start thinking now I have to gut and drag it. Or you start thinking that you really don't like eating them that much. Or it seems so anti-climatic, like the hunt was more fun before you shoot the deer.

My guys got one doe. Son missed a ten pointer, he's still whining about that. Last year he got a nine pointer so he really wanted that 10.

How did your group do?

I am shopping for a shotgun for my dad. I would like to spend about $400-500

He will use it mostly for shooting clays and he wants a 20 gauge.

He wants a nice reliable gun that will take abuse (can handle 100+ shots in a day)
He would also like for it to have a hardwood stock.

He was originally looking at an O/U, but for a quality gun it is out of my price range. (I don't want to buy him a cheaply made O/U)

So it looks like I need to find him a pump or auto-loader.

So far I have found the Remington 870 which looks like a pretty nice gun...

What do you guys think?

I have inherited my grandfather's shotgun - I would guess that it was purchaced when he got back from the war - maybe early 50's. A lot of gun guys have told me that it is a valuable gun. Anyone know the value? -OR- Is there a website of gun values?

I was wondering why youth hunting started. Thinking it had somthing to do with accidental shootings during regular hunting season, Being adults will pay more attention to new hunters rather than there own limit.

What kind of weather are the deer going to be the most active in? Where would the best place be (woods, field, swamp) to hunt them in this type of weather?

I am looking at the Remington 700 and Savage 110/111 rifles. I have about $500 to spend. This will be a hunting rifle.

The Remington SPS is supposed to have a great feeling action, but I don't think it looks as nice as the Savage. (I am not a huge fan of syn stocks and I can not afford Rem 700 hardwood guns...)

The Savage looks great with a hardwood stock, but how will it perform? (Will that accu-trigger hold up in the feild?) Also the 110 savage comes with a crappy scope, so I will need to buy a new one anyway.

I am just really torn.

Should I forget about looks and go with the Remington 700 SPS or should I get the Savage?

I am so confused.
